Debt Collection and Enforcement

Debt Collection and Enforcement during the second Lockdown in England

Courts

Courts in England are following strict guidance from The Lord Chief Justice and the Senior President of Tribunals but will remain open. They have everything in place in order to operate in a COVID-secure manner and will continue to provide essential services to all Court Users. For more information please check the Government Guidance on this matter.

We make contact with your debtor, employing a structured strategy incorporating letters, phone calls or emails, according to which approach is the most appropriate.

Enforcement

The Lord Chancellor has confirmed that “Sheriff” Enforcement can continue during the second lockdown period which has started on 5th November 2020 in England.

Site visits and seizure of goods will therefore be carried out and Enforcement Agent will obviously take all appropriate health and safety precautions as required by the current COVID-secure guidance.

They will also be unable to enter residential properties for now. However, enforcement visits to recover commercial debts at business premises will continue as normal and the Sheriff will be able to enter business premises.
